The Lived-Living Experience/Peer workforce in Queensland is expanding, as more people than ever are understanding the important role we play as workers with lived and living experience in the wider mental health system.
The Queensland Mental Health Commission is prioritising the growth of the LLE workforce and is providing funding to support the professional development and standardisation of the LLE/Peer workforce in Queensland.
What is LLE?
For the purpose of this project, Lived-Living Experience refers to the personal, first-hand experience of mental health challenges, suicidal distress, alcohol and other drug use, and carers of, and the ways these experiences shape how people understand themselves, others, and the world. Lived-Living Experience is not defined by diagnosis or role alone, but by the knowledge that comes from navigating these experiences and choosing to bring that knowledge into work that supports others.
